Hummingbirds and butterflies in your garden can give you such a magical feeling. I am going to give you tips to attract these beautiful creatures to your own garden.

ATTRACTING HUMMINGBIRDS

Hummingbirds feed from nectar plants in shades of red, yellow, and orange. Place them in multiple areas of your garden to give them many locations to eat.

Choose red hummingbird feeders that are easy to clean, and if you are purchasing premade nectar do not buy any with artificial dyes.

Start putting out feeders in early spring like mid-March. To clean the feeder soak it in warm soapy water, and scrub with a small brush.

Butterflies like flat nectar flowers in red, yellow, orange, pink and purple. The plants should be somewhere that gets around 5 hours of sun a day.

ATTRACTING BUTTERFLIES

Butterflies use the same nectar as hummingbirds, but their feeders are typically yellow. You can also use fresh fruit, but that will attract other bugs as well.

Butterfly puddlers are small shallow pools of water. Use colored sand to help attract them to the area.
